To the elect of God, according to the knowledge of the Father before the foundation of the earth was laid. Jesus came to die. John the Baptist, the forerunner of Christ, came to get his head cut off. Do you think that Jesus as a human being would have come to earth if He knew that His purpose was to die? It is a complex but interesting question. Jesus was God. Jesus is God. Did He not know that His purpose for living was to die? We must die to self so that others may live. The trying of our faith by fiery trials work to test the measure of our faith through the sanctification of the Spirit of God unto obedience and the sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ; grace be unto you and peace be multiplied.
The trial of our faith being more precious than gold that is tried by fire, that we may be found praising and honoring and glorying at the appearance of the revelation of Jesus Christ--although we have not seen Him, we love Him--believing and rejoicing with unspeakable joy in anticipation of His coming. (1 Peter 1)
