We can get so caught up in fighting the enemy that we become just as mean and hateful as the attacker. Falling into the enemy's trap--the devil's goal--to make us act out, do, say or think things that are not pleasing to God; break the law of the land or circumvent the Word of God. We in essence become like the enemy. We know that we have power over the devil and all of its tactics, however we are not unlike anyone else when we express ourselves, to stand up for ourselves, when we should humble our self and keep our mouth shut and our thoughts to our self.
We must confess our sins. We must ask the Lord to forgive us for evil thoughts about our enemies, even when we were standing up for ourselves. We are no different from the enemy who attacks us repeatedly and tries to influence us with their evil, dark tactics--except for the fact that we as believers and children of God--will suffer the consequences--we feel guilty for disappointing God and behaving unchristian-like. The Lord will forgive us. The dilemma is that we are not unaware of evil tactics perpetrated against us, no matter how subtle...and we are not exempt from communicating in ways or thoughts, or words or deeds that are clearly against the word of God and out of the will of God.
Lord forgive us for our thoughts that are out of line with Your Word. Forgive us for when we stand up for ourselves, when You have told us to stand down. We repent of our sins and ask for Your forgiveness, in the name of Jesus.
When we stand up for ourselves, in the Spirit of God, we have authority over our enemies. God gave us that authority. God gave us power to tread on serpents and to cast out demons, in the spirit realm. The challenge is that we as believers tend to feel sorry for the enemy, and when we do, the enemy moves in on us and forgets that we are not friends--we're enemies. Nevertheless, being born again is a constant struggle, for we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities, evil and spiritual wickedness in high places. The enemy is having a heyday and we have to be humble. It's a challenge but if we are born again and want to see God perform signs, wonders and miracles we need to bring our flesh under subjection to God's Word. But most of all, the believer will feel sorry for whipping up on a demonic spirit, when the believer knows that it has the advantage. If God be for us, He is more than the world against us. Submit yourself, your thoughts and your deeds to God.
God sees and God knows.

Exercise your authority to tread on serpents and to cast out demons. You are the head and not the tail. Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. Exercise your holy boldness.
