Abraham moved his family and caravan on to Gerar. In Gerar was Abimelech. Abraham, a prophet of God, told his wife Sarah to say that she was his sister. Sara was a beautiful woman. Abraham knew that telling Abimelech that Sarah was his sister would save his life or at least make his life a little less complicated. Abimelech took Sarah into his household. He did not sleep with Sarah. Later it was told to Abimelech by God that He kept Abimelech from sleeping with Sarah, lest Abimelech found himself sinning against God. But what did happen was that God allowed all of these troubles to come upon Abimelech--this was God's way of keeping Abimelech from Sarah.
Hence, Abimelech called for Abraham and asked Abraham why did he tell a lie. Why did you tell me that Sarah was your sister? All of these troubles came upon me. Abimelech then told Abraham not to worry, "I did not sleep with her. God came to me in a dream and told me that Abraham was not Sarah's sister and to give Abraham, who is a profit of God, his wife back." (Genesis 20:3)
Lord Jesus we thank you for this awesome day! You alone are God and you alone are worthy to be praised. We lift up our hands to You and praise Your holy name. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

Exercise your authority to tread on serpents and to cast out demons. You are the head and not the tail. Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. Exercise your holy boldness.
