And the Devil Tempted Him

Satan takes Jesus up to a mountain top and offered Jesus, literally, the whole world. The devil said if you would worship me I will give you all of this. Jesus said get thee behind me Satan, you are an offense to me. For thou savourest the things that be of man, and not of God. When Jesus was hungry, after having not eaten in 40 days, Satan said if you be the son of God, demand that these stones be turned to bread. Jesus said get thee behind me Satan.

Satan, was talking to God. Jesus was confident. He knew who He was. He knew that He was God the Father; and that He was sent from God. Jesus said that He can do nothing of himself but only through His Father who has sent Him. (John 5:19, John 12:49, John 5:36) Jesus said, I and the Father are one. (John 10:30) I am sure that Jesus was both amused and offended when the devil offers Him the whole world.

Everything belongs to God. There is nothing that was made that was not made that belongs to God. It is God who made us and not we ourselves. We are the sons of God and we know not what we shall be, but we know that when Christ shall appear we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

Trust the Lord with all thy heart and all thy mind. Lean not to your own understanding but in every way acknowledge the Lord and He will direct your path. And, we know that all things work together for good to them who love God and are the called, according to His purpose. Walk worthy of your calling in Christ Jesus.

You are not the devil's entertainment. Don't play with the devil. The devil is not playing with you. Don't engage in superfluous, stupid conversations about "nothing" with the devil. Don't engage in the "ying yang".  Don't let the devil run a con on you. Be watchful, be prayerful. Walk in wisdom towards them who are without, redeeming the time for the days are evil. If you open your mouth, it had better be about the Lord, about the Lord's love, and the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ. Your purpose is to witness for Christ and to make yourself available that God may use you to win souls for Christ.

Exercise your authority to tread on serpents and to cast out demons. You are the head and not the tail. Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. Exercise your holy boldness.
